Wednesday, April 23-25, 2025 - WCA board president, Sara Haynes, and preservation professional, Steph McDoux will be at the annual conference in Austin presented by the Texas Historical Commission and Friends of Texas Historical Commission. Sara and Steph are offering a workshop on Thursday, 4.24.25 about Historic Texas Cemeteries: From Vision to Reality.
Saturday, April 19, 2025 - WCA and Harris County Historical Commission, along with Greater Northside Chamber of Commerce, Greater Northside Management District, and Super Neighborhood 46 representatives are dedicating the Historic Texas Cemetery medallion and name plaque at the fourth annual Descendants Day.
Saturday, July 15, 2023 - Volunteer Appreciation and Ice Cream Social to celebrate those who have and are helping to keep our cemetery cleaned, mowed, and secured. As part of their Complete Communities Civic Leadership Development (CCCLD) Project, Outreach Strategists, through a contract with the Houston Health Department, has awarded a mini-grant for our "Eyes on the Cemetery" campaign to purchase and install security cameras in the cemetery.

Thursday, March 9, 2023 - WCA welcomes the registered participants of Texas Historical Commission's (THC) in-person headstone repair workshop at McDaniel Street Cemetery, one of three cemeteries in Texas selected for the workshops. The workshops are made possible through a National Parks Service grant to THC related to the consequences of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria and are a follow-up to the THC's Disaster Training webinar series. The workshops will be taught by Texas Cemetery Restoration’s Rusty Brenner and NCPTT’s Jason Church. The workshops will focus on simple and complex headstone repair (emergency stabilization, levelling, and resetting gravestones). Rain date is March 23.
